He then also got the nod to start in their narrow loss to South Africa before coming off the bench in their morale-boosting victory over Argentina.
Coming quickly over the horizon now is the 2019 Championship and Skinner cannot wait to test himself in Rugby's Greatest Championship.
"We're in a really exciting place," the 23-year-old told BBC Radio Devon.
"It showed with the last Six Nations campaign, we had a steady autumn and are really excited for the challenge ahead of us."

Last year in the Guinness Six Nations, Scotland downed England, France and Italy to claim a third-place finish under Gregor Townsend.
This year they will be targeting still further improvement and Skinner, a former England Under-20s international, cannot wait to taste Six Nations action.
"I was honoured to get the opportunity to play for Scotland and I've had a great month playing for them," he added.
"It wasn't an easy decision because there are a lot of factors that affect the decision.
"But at the same time it was really easy, the second I went onto that pitch it was an unbelievable experience and I was so grateful to have that opportunity.
"I'm so happy that I've made that decision and excited to try and push forward with Scotland as much as possible now."
